University of Ostrava was founded in 1991 and offers higher education at the Faculties of Philosophy, Education, Science, Social Studies, Medicine and Arts in many bachelor, master and post-graduate programs.
The University includes two research institutes, the Institute for the Research and Application of Fuzzy Modelling and the European Research Institute for Social Work. An appropriate place for intensive studying is the University Library.
University of Ostrava annually welcomes a large number of international students and is involved in exchange programs such as Erasmus+ VIA Exchange NEOLAiA.

Portal (portal.osu.cz) is the university information system which provides easy access to study materials, timetables, lecturers, syllabi, examinations, grades and credits, and scholarship information. Your personal student number enables you to log in and use this extensive database — especially useful when it comes to exams and credit transfer. You can also access it directly via IS-STAG (is-stag.osu.cz).
